Administrative Assistant
We are looking for an experienced administrative assistant to join our office team within a commercial and fully independent metals testing laboratory. The MTT office team is collectively responsible for day-to-day client-facing operations from responding to sales enquiries, to managing relationships with clients, to the prompt issuing of completed test reports and certificates. The Administrative Assistant works closely with colleagues to ensure fast delivery of test results, presented to clients in a range of different ways.

Complex data entry tasks to include incoming orders, client details, and test results to ensure full traceability and the production and issuance of accurate and professional test certificates and reports

Responding to enquiries in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner via phone and email and assisting clients with their choice of service where required

Interpretation of client specifications, international standards, custom order requirements, approved test results, and other technical documentation

Liaising and communicating clearly with managers, metallurgists, machine operators, lab technicians, external agents and other staff working in different departments face-to-face, via email, and by phone

Analysing and updating our customers and contacts database for occasional sales, marketing and essential client account tasks

General day-to-day administrative duties as part of the MTT office team

Other related office and general business duties as may be required by senior staff on occasion

Person Specification
Ideally two or more years' experience in a technical office environment such as a manufacturer, laboratory, test house, or similar technology-based consultancy business

A demonstrable record of delivering at pace, evidence of successful use of personal initiative, and a willingness to go the extra mile

Knowledge of basic metallurgical processes and materials testing methods (e.g. elemental analysis, mechanical testing, metallurgical testing) preferred, but not essential

Full training will be provided

Full time permanent with 6 months training period and 2 years probationary period

40 hours per week. 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday plus one Saturday morning every three weeks between 9.00 am and 12 noon. Please note that flexible hours are not available in this position

28 days holiday incl. statutory days

Automatic enrollment in the NEST online pension scheme

Salary £16,000 p/a plus performance-related bonus, with expected earnings in the region of £20,000 p/a
